Logan Health is pleased to announce the addition of Clayton Vaughan, MD, a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon, to its orthopedic surgical team. His arrival marks a significant milestone for Logan Health and the communities it serves, adding a new level of trauma care to the Flathead Valley and surrounding region.
“Bringing Dr. Vaughan to Logan Health Medical Center means patients with complex trauma injuries such as a fractured pelvis will stay in the Flathead for surgery as opposed to getting flown out of the valley,” said Kevin Abel, President Logan Health Medical Center. “We are excited to be able to offer this level of service to our community right here in the Flathead Valley.”
Dr. Vaughan specializes in treating complex fractures and soft tissue injuries involving the pelvis, upper and lower extremities, as well as joint replacement surgery. He also treats patients with bone injuries that failed to heal or realign properly after a break, as well as fracture-related infections. His focus remains on helping to restore form, function, and mobility for trauma patients and allowing them to return to the activities they enjoy.
Dr. Vaughan grew up in Texas where he completed much of his medical training. He then served in the United States Navy medical corps as an orthopedic surgeon before completing his orthopedic trauma and adult reconstruction fellowship in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“When I meet a patient, it is often on one of their worst days,” said Dr. Vaughan. “But in that moment, I have the unique opportunity to be able to use my skills as an orthopedic trauma surgeon to help patients along during their recovery from a traumatic situation. This, along with the relationships that I get to develop with patients and their families is truly an honor and a privilege and brings me great personal satisfaction. I’ve quickly grown to love Montana and I look forward to providing this service to our community.”
