The fall season has officially begun and so has school, fall sports, cooler weather and inevitably, flu season. Fortunately, there are many tips and opportunities to help prevent contracting or spreading the illness, including getting your flu shot. At the Logan Health – Shelby Community Health Fair on Tuesday, October 15 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Shelby Civic Center, the Toole County Health Department will be offering flu shots with the Care Van. The community health fair is free and open to guests of all ages!
Logan Health – Shelby is providing free cinnamon rolls and coffee in the morning, plus free soup and rolls for lunch. Starting at 7 a.m., lab draws are available including, a $50 birthday lab special, phosphorus level and uric acid level, CBC, CMP, lipid panel, TSH and PSA. A variety of healthy snacks will be offered for those who participate in the lab draws.
Local health-related organizations and businesses, along with several hospital departments, will be providing resources about how to keep you and your family healthy this year while sharing interactive demonstrations and activities for all ages. There will be opportunities to learn more about Logan Health’s free CNA class and other health care professions.
A new addition to this year’s community health fair is a “Strollin’ Through the Colon” exhibit. Experience the highly interactive, educational display of a large-scale model of the human colon. Through examples of various colon issues, young kids and adults will see first-hand the problems that can develop within the human colon from hemorrhoids to colon cancer.
Visit the community health fair and be entered to win prizes and leave with plenty of giveaways. For more information or if you would like to be a vendor at the health fair, please call Logan Health – Shelby at (406) 434-3200.
