Make a Tax-Free Gift from Your IRA
New retirement plan laws enacted on Jan. 1, 2020, changed the age at which you must start taking Required Minimum Distribution or RMDs from your retirement account, from 70½ to 72 for those born July 1, 1949, or later. A Charitable IRA Rollover is a simple way to help Logan Health and satisfy all or part of your RMD, while avoiding the income and tax associated with an IRA distribution.
Why Consider This Gift?
- Your gift will be put to use today, allowing you to see the difference your donation is making.
- You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your tax deductions.
- If you have not yet taken your required minimum distribution for the year, your IRA charitable rollover gift can satisfy all or part of that requirement.
Donor Advised Fund (DAF)
A Donor Advised Fund is a great way for you to give to Logan Health and the charities and causes important to you over time. You establish a fund with a financial institution or community foundation and then can recommend charitable distributions from your fund each year. You are entitled to take a deduction in the years you make contributions to your fund. Donor Advised Funds can be a great option for a donor interested in receiving a larger tax deduction in the year the fund is established and then making grants from the fund over subsequent years. When you establish your fund, you can name Logan Health and other non-profits to receive portions of the fund upon your passing.
Planned Giving
There are many ways to invest in the future of Logan Health, some of which can result in significant tax savings and income streams. Montana taxpayers can structure their gift to receive a Federal tax deduction and a Montana state tax credit.
Matching Gifts
Considering a donation? Your company may match your gift. You can learn about matching gift opportunities your company offers by visiting Charity Navigator. Often, companies will match gifts made by current employees and retirees.
