          FAQs

What are you looking for in candidates for LPN positions at Logan Health?

We are looking for energetic, passionate new nurses who have the desire to care for our community members, the ability to prioritize patient safety, and be valuable members of the Logan Health care team.

What does the application process entail?

Candidates will submit a cover letter and résumé.

To whom should I address my cover letter?

You may address your cover letter to Logan Health LPN Residency.

What if I haven't graduated by the time applications are due?

You may apply to positions prior to graduation, but you must graduate, pass the NCLEX-PN and have a Montana State LPN license prior to starting the program.

What does the interview process entail?

Interviews for each cohort are held over one to two days.

How many hours per week do nurse residents work?

LPN Residents may work up to 40 hours a week. Please note, the first four months of hire are demanding and LPN Residents must balance LPN Residency classes, unit-based orientation classes and patient care shifts. LPN Residents may work several days in a row with only a few days off between their workdays. Please consider these working conditions and plan accordingly if you are planning to return to school to advance your degree.

Will I be working nights, weekends and holidays?

For most departments, yes. You will most likely be hired into a position in which you will work evening or nighttime hours.

Do I get vacation time during my LPN residency?

It is expected that the LPN Resident will attend all residency classes AND unit-specific orientation shifts that mimic their Preceptor’s schedule. This timeline is approximately 13 weeks and requests for time off during this time will need to be submitted prior to the start date of the Cohort. Requests received after the start date will be assessed individually and will not be guaranteed.

How long am I expected to remain on the unit or area I am hired to?

It is anticipated that LPN residents will remain in the practice setting to which they were hired for two years. LPN Residents are welcome to look at other opportunities within the Logan Health team after they have completed the 12-month LPN Residency Program.

          When are LPN residency classes?

LPN Residency is a year-long program. Class dates and times will vary throughout residency and will be communicated in advance for you to prepare. Classes are every other week in the first four months of the program and then switch to monthly. The first four months of hire are demanding, as LPN Residents must balance classes and patient care shifts.

What does a LPN resident get paid?

Starting wage for LPN Residents is the same as a new hire wage for each unit. For questions regarding pay and benefits prior to starting, please contact Logan Health Talent Acquisition team at RNResidency@logan.org.

How do I obtain information about Montana state nursing licensure?

Please visit the Montana Board of Nursing website at https://boards.bsd.dli.mt.gov/nursing/

What if my license is still pending upon start date?

In the event that a candidate receives and accepts a job offer for the LPN Residency Program but still has a pending LPN license at the time of the deadline, we will work with that candidate on a case-by-case basis.
