Clayton Vaughan, MD, joined the orthopedic team in August 2023 as Logan Health’s first fellowship trained Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon. He specializes in treating complex fractures and soft tissue injuries involving the pelvis, upper and lower extremities, as well as joint replacement surgery for patients with hip, knee, and shoulder arthritis. Dr. Vaughan also treats patients with non-unions, malunions, and fracture-related infections after trauma. His focus remains on helping to restore form, function, and mobility for patients and allowing them to return to the activities they enjoy.
Dr. Vaughan completed his pre-med studies at Texas A&M University, followed by medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He then completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency training at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Vaughan honorably served in the United States Navy medical corps as an orthopedic surgeon at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton and with 2D Medical Battalion at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, the Navy’s flagship trauma center in Jacksonville, North Carolina. During this time, he provided orthopedic care for active-duty service members, dependents, veterans, as well as civilian trauma patients. After active-duty service, Dr. Vaughan continued his orthopedic training, completing a fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma and Adult Reconstruction surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In his free time, Clayton enjoys spending time with his wife, four children, and their two dogs, Bear and Moose, as well as enjoying all of the outdoor activities that Montana has to offer.
